Yogyakarta, October 22, 2025 — The Yogyakarta Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta) officially launched a Japanese Language Training Program for final-year students of the Diploma III in Nursing and the Professional Nurse Education Program. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Director of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, Dr. Iswanto, S.Pd., M.Kes, on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, at the Poltekkes Yogyakarta Integrated Campus.
The six-month training program will be held daily in the afternoon at the Poltekkes Yogyakarta campus. It aims to prepare nursing graduates to be competent and ready to work abroad, particularly in Japan, by equipping them with strong language skills and an understanding of Japanese workplace culture.
All training costs are fully funded by Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, covering both course fees and the Japanese Foundation Test (JFT) examination. This initiative demonstrates the institution’s commitment to enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesian health professionals.
This activity is also supported by the Japan Foundation, which provides learning modules and training for instructors. The instructors involved in the program are professionals with academic backgrounds in Japanese language education and possess teaching competencies relevant to the participants’ needs.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Iswanto stated that the program represents one of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta’s strategic steps to expand international career opportunities for its graduates.
“We want to ensure that Poltekkes graduates are not only excellent in nursing competencies but also have linguistic and intercultural abilities that enable them to adapt and contribute globally, especially in Japan,” he emphasized.
Through this training, participants are expected to acquire communicative Japanese language skills and successfully pass the JFT examination, preparing them for employment opportunities in Japan. This program is also expected to serve as a model for developing internationalization capacity in health education within Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta.
