Yogyakarta, 28 June 2025 – In an effort to increase public knowledge and awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection, The Center for Educational Development of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta (LANTIP), in collaboration with the Student Association of the Applied Bachelor and Professional Midwifery Program as well as the Student Association of the Diploma Three Midwifery Program, organized the 2025 National Webinar and Alumni Gathering under the theme “Early Detection, Better Protection: How Midwives Help Fight Breast Cancer.”
The event was held on Saturday, 28 June 2025, starting at 07:00 AM until completion, conducted online via Zoom Meeting, and attended by 353 participants from various backgrounds, including midwifery practitioners, alumni of the Midwifery Department of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, students from the Diploma Three and Applied Bachelor Midwifery Programs, as well as students from the Diploma Three Program in Health Information and Medical Records.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Agus Wijanarka, S.SiT., M.Kes, Acting Director of Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, who emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in preparing health professionals who are aware of crucial issues such as breast cancer.
The 2025 National Webinar and Alumni Gathering featured four speakers. The first presentation was delivered by Dr. Sujiyatini, S.SiT., M.Keb, who spoke on “The Psychological Approach of Midwives in Early Detection of Breast Cancer.” In her session, she stressed the importance of psychological aspects in building patient trust and raising women's awareness of the need for regular breast examinations.
Next, Dr. Agus Fitriyato Achmad, Sp.PD, Subsp. HOM (K), presented a session titled “Bridging Science and Care: The Impact of Digital Innovation on Breast Cancer Outcomes.” He explained how digital innovations, such as scanning technology and early detection applications, play a key role in improving service quality and treatment outcomes for breast cancer.
The third and fourth speakers, Denny Iswara, S.Tr. Keb, and Holfia Aningrum, A.Md.Keb, took turns delivering a presentation titled “Smart Midwife, Strong Future: Strategic Steps in Advancing Midwifery Education.” Both speakers inspired participants to continuously develop their academic and professional competencies as preparation for future challenges in the workforce and healthcare services.
The 2025 National Webinar and Alumni Gathering is expected to broaden participants’ insights and knowledge in healthcare, particularly in breast cancer awareness. Additionally, the event served as a networking platform, allowing alumni to share experiences and expertise.
